Roofer Slang Article Summary

Roofing is brutal work — the sun, the sweat, the gravity always working against you. But somewhere between the nails and the tar, a unique language emerges. The more you know the slang, the more you fit in (“Hey rookie, that’s a shiner, not a style,” they’ll say).

We’ve scoured job sites, listened to foremen, and leaned over ladders to bring you 62 slang terms that are part of the roofing lexicon. Use the first 40 in any crowd. The last 22are for off-the-clock moments (or when no customers are listening).
